JUICY
ORANGE |
- |
Oh, I wish I was a little juicy orange,
juicy orange,
Oh, I wish I was a little juicy orange, juicy orange,
I'd go squirty, squirty, squirty, over everybody's shirty,
Oh, I wish I was a little juicy orange, juicy orange.
Oh, I wish I was a little foreign car,

Oh, I wish I was a little foreign car, foreign car,
I'd go speedy speedy speedy, over everybody's feety,
Oh, I wish I was a little foreign car, foreign car.
Oh, I wish I was a little bottle of pop,
bottle of pop,
Oh, I wish I was a little bottle of pop, bottle of pop,
I'd go down with a slurp and up with a burp,
Oh, I wish I was a little bottle of pop, bottle of pop.
Oh, I wish I was a little bar of soap,
bar of soap,
Oh, I wish I was a little bar of soap, bar of soap,
I'd go shiney shiney shiney over everybody's hiney,
Oh, I wish I was a little bar of soap, bar of soap.
Oh, I wish I was a little dirty birdy,

Oh, I wish I was a little dirty birdy, dirty birdy,
I'd go up to the steeple and look down on all the people,
Oh, I wish I was a little dirty birdy, dirty birdy.
Oh, I wish I was a little Girly Scouty,
Girly Scouty,
Oh, I wish I was a little Girly Scouty, Girly Scouty,
I'd go tramp tramp tramp, through the Boy Scout Camp,
Oh, I wish I was a little Girly Scouty, Girly Scouty.

JULIETTE
(A lullaby tribute to
Juliette
Gordon Low,
founder of Girl Scouts
of the United States
of America, 1912) |
- |
Juliette of the vesper plains
Every Girl Scout knows your name.
Your light shines through the shadows of the cold dark night.
Juliette, our guiding star,
Shining down from where you are,
For every girl who follows on the star dust of your dreams.
The sky is full of stars tonight,
A million billion twinkling lights.
There is a special one
Shining round the world,
With a love that she left to remind every girl.
Juliette of the vesper plains
Every Girl Scout knows your name.
Your light shines through the shadows of the cold dark night.
Juliette, our guiding star,
Shining down from where you are,
For every girl who follows on the star dust of your dreams.
She was a dreamer brave and free.
A little ship, a great big sea.
She sailed to light the way,
The journey we've begun,
And someday may our lights shine together as one.
Juliette of the vesper plains
Every Girl Scout knows your name.
Your light shines through the shadows of the cold dark night.
Juliette, our guiding star,
Shining down from where you are,
For every girl who follows on the star dust of your dreams.
We'll shine our light and follow on the star dust of your dreams. |

JUST
A BOY & A GIRL |
- |
Just a boy
and a girl in a little canoe,
With the moon shining all around.
He paddled his paddle so,
you couldn't even hear a sound.
And they talked, and they
talked,
Till the moon grew dim,
He said you'd better kiss me or get out and swim.
So whatcha gonna do in a
little canoe,
With the moon shining all a,
Boat floating all a,
Girl swimmin all around!

LAND OF THE
SILVER BIRCH |
- |
Land of the silver birch,
home of the beaver,
Where still the mighty moose wanders at will.
Blue lake and rocky shore, I will return
once more,
Boom di de eye di, Boom di de eye di, Boom di de eye di boom.
My heart is sick for you here in the
lowlands,
I will return to you hills of the north.
Blue lake and rocky shore, I will return
once more,
Boom di de eye di, Boom di de eye di, Boom di de eye di boom.
Swift as a silver fish, canoe of birch
bark.
Thy mighty waterways carry me forth.
Blue lake and rocky shore, I will return
once more,
Boom di de eye di, Boom di de eye di, Boom di de eye di boom.
There where the blue lake lies, I'll set
my wigwam
Close to the water's edge, silent and still.
Blue lake and rocky shore, I will return
once more,
Boom di de eye di, Boom di de eye di, Boom di de eye di boom. |

Mmm Mmm I want to linger,
Mmm Mmm a little longer,
Mmm Mmm a little longer here with you.
Mmm Mmm it's such a perfect night,
Mmm Mmm it's doesn't seem quite right,
Mmm Mmm that this she be my last with you.
Mmm Mmm and come September,
Mmm Mmm we'll still remember,
Mmm Mmm our camping days and friendship true.
Mmm Mmm and as the years go by,
Mmm Mmm I'll think of you and sigh,
Mmm Mmm this is good night and not goodbye.

MAKE NEW
FRIENDS |
- |
Make new
friends, but keep the old,
One is silver and the other's gold.
A circle's round, it has
no end,
That's how long I want to be your friend.
Friendships come and
friendships go,
But we'll be together, this I know.
You'll need me and I'll
need you,
And together we will make it through. |

ON
MY HONOR |
- |
On my honor I will try,
There's a duty to be done and I say aye,
There's a reason here for a reason up above,
My honor is to try and my duty is to love.
People don't need to know
my name,
If I've done any harm, then I'm to blame.
If I've helped anyone, then I've helped me,
If I've opened up my eyes to see.
I've tucked away a song or two,
When your feeling low, there's one for you,
If you need a friend, then I will come,
And there's so many more where I come from.
On my honor I will try,
There's a duty to be done and I say aye,
There's a reason here for a reason up above,
My honor is to try and my duty is to love.
Come with me where a fire
burns bright,
We can even see better by candle's light,
We can find more meaning in a campfire's glow
Than we ever learned in a year or so.
We've made a promise to always keep,
And we pray night falls before we sleep.
We'll be Girl Scouts together and when we're gone,
We'll still be trying and a singing this song.
On my honor I will try,
There's a duty to be done and I say aye,
There's a reason here for a reason up above,
My honor is to try and my duty is to love.

OUR CABANA
SONG |
- |
"Neath the grand Sierra
Madre, On a plain in Mexico,
Lies our beautiful Cabana, Where Girl Scouts and Guides go.
Oh, come then to see the mountains, the cactus and sunny skies,
Hear the cricket in the evening, and see the white moonrise.
When you see the warm red roofs you think
of hearts that glow with cheer.
And the walls of sturdy stonework stand for friendship so dear.
Each day there is filled with laughter, each evening is filled with
song,
And our stay in Our Cabana gives us memories lifelong.
When we go to Our Cabana, we shall find
ourselves at home,
There's a greeting smile so friendly and a handshake so warm.
So come now to Our Cabana, world friendship to increase
And carry to our homeland international Peace. |

OUR CHALET
SONG |
- |
High up, high on the
mountains, We've founded Our Chalet,
High up, high on the mountains, We've founded Our Chalet,
It's sloping roof and wide shall shelter us without a care,
And each Girl Scout and Guide shall find a welcome there.
High up, high on the mountains, We'll go
to Our Chalet,
High up, high on the mountains, We'll go to Our Chalet,
Our simple life is free, Our hearts are light, our songs are gay,
We ever shall remember the joys of Our Chalet.
High up, high on the mountains, We've
founded Our Chalet,
High up, high on the mountains, We've founded Our Chalet,
And this it's dedication shall never fail nor be undone,
Each race, each creed, each nation, beneath it's roof are one. |

PEACE OF THE
RIVER |
- |
Peace I ask of thee, O river
Peace, Peace, Peace
When I learn to live serenely
Cares will cease.
From the hills I gather courage,
Vision of the day to be,
Strength to lead and faith to follow,
All are given unto me,
Peace, I ask of thee, O river
Peace, Peace, Peace. |

THE ASH
GROVE |
- |
Down yonder green valley
where streamlets meander,
When twilight is fading I pensively rove.
Or at the bright noontide in solitude wander
Amid the dark shades of the lonely ash grove.
'Tis there where the blackbird is cheerfully singing,
Each warbler enchants with his notes from the tree,
Ah, then little think I of sorrow or sadness,
The Ash Grove entrancing spells beauty for me.
The Ash Grove how graceful how plainly
'tis speaking.
The harp through it's playing has language for me.
Whenever the light through it's branches is breaking
A host of kind faces is gazing at me.
The friends of my childhood again are before me
Each step wakes a memory as freely I roam.
With soft whispers laden, it's leaves rustle o're me
The Ash Grove, the Ash Grove alone is my home. |

TODAY |
- |
Today while
the blossoms still cling to the vine,
I'll taste your strawberries, I'll drink your sweet wine.
A million tomorrows shall all pass away,
And ere I forgot, all the joy that is mine, today.
I'll be a dandy and I'll
be a rover,
You'll know who I am by the song that I sing.
I'll feat at your table, I'll sleep in your clover,
Who cares what tomorrow will bring.
I can't be contented with
yesterday's glory,
I can't live on promises winter to spring.
Today is my moment and now is my story,
I'll laugh and I'll cry and I'll sing.
Today while the blossoms
still cling to the vine,
I'll taste your strawberries, I'll drink your sweet wine.
A million tomorrows shall all pass away,
And ere I forgot, all the joy that is mine, today.

TWILIGHT OAKS SONG/
HELLO PARENTS |
- |
Hello parents - hello
folks,
Here I am at - Twilight Oaks.
Camp is very - entertaining,
And they say we'll have some fun if it stops raining.
I went hiking - with Sue Spivey,
She developed - poison ivy,
You remember - Lisa Skinner?
She got ptomaine poisoning last night after dinner.
Take me home - I miss my T.V.
Take me home - I miss the A.C.
Oh please don't make me stay,
I've been here one whole day.
You remember - Jenny Hardy?
They're organizing - a searching party.
Now I don't want - this to scare ya,
But I think that some of us have caught malaria!
Love the leaders, and the swaps me make,
But the bathroom scares me, someone saw a snake!
He's been hiding - in the wall,
Mudduh, Fadduh I don't wanna use that stall!
Take me home - I miss my T.V.
Take me home - I miss the A.C.
Oh please don't make me stay,
I've been here one whole day.
Dearest Fadduh - Darling Mudduh,
How's my precious - little brudduh?
Let me come home - if you miss me,
I would even let Aunt Bertha hug and kiss me.
Wait a minute - It's stopped raining,
Girls are hiking - Girls are playing.
Singing camp songs - gee that's better,
Mudduh, Fadduh kindly disregard this letter! |

WE CHANGE
THE WORLD |
- |
Change the
world, come with me
Time to let our dreams fly free.
And it comes so easily, that is our way.
Every moment we're alive, it's our love that will survive,
In the Girl Scouts, together, We Change The World.
Sisters of every color,
and friends from everywhere.
We all make the difference, when we show the world we care.
The Girl Scouts are our family,
And they show us what we can be
And I believe, together, We Change The World.
Change the world, come
with me
Time to let our dreams fly free.
And it comes so easily, that is our way.
Every moment we're alive, it's our love that will survive,
In the Girl Scouts, together, We Change The World.
In a world with many
faces, Girl Scouts find a way
To help in many places, along the trails we blaze.
We'll light the light and do our share,
Reach out your hand and someone's there,
And I believe, together, We Change The World.
Change the world, come
with me
Time to let our dreams fly free.
And it comes so easily, that is our way.
Every moment we're alive, it's our love that will survive,
In the Girl Scouts, together, We Change The World. |
